Find several community gardens near Tennessee’s geographical center. Visit Oaklands Community Garden at Oaklands Mansion for some fun-filled soil time. Riley Steveson leads the garden and accepts volunteers every Monday from 10a - 12p.Â

Murfreesboro City administrates the grounds through the Outdoor Murfreesboro initiative. OM is a branch of Murfreesboro City Government that focuses on outdoor adventure, conservation, and adventure recreation.Â

They focus efforts on Barfield-Crescent Park and its wilderness area, but their work extends throughout the city. Outdoor Murfreesboro oversees projects like summer camps, restoration projects, and trail management. Volunteer signups are open if you’d like to give your time to improve your city.Â

Oaklands Community Garden provides a great place to grow food and meet neighbors. Find them a few blocks away from downtown Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee State University. Watch students from McFadden Community Center harvest sweet potatoes below via Newsbreak.Â
